It’s hard to rate this book using the typical measures for a novel, because it is so lyrical, it reads almost like a poem.
I loved this book and will want to return to it in a couple of years.

Normally I loathe anything fragmented or plotless - so i understand if this book is not for everyone but it absolutely WAS for me. A beautiful, smart, and poignant piece of queer literature.

Wow what a book, what a collection of stories, voices and memories. This is a powerful and fascinating and intriguing read. I am flabbergasted by how vivid and real these wonderful women appear and sound. Both angry, desperate, joyful, sad and also determined. Absolutely marvellous.

this book sets out to do a lot of things at once and after getting over the initial shock of that i did enjoy it. i did feel myself getting lost in the names and the histories sometimes but couldnt help thinking that was sort of purposeful, considering the frequent use of first person plural.

clearly a LOT of research had gone into this book and i really appreciated that. im not sure if i loved or hated that virginia woolf was a character in this. but i did enjoy the deep dive into lesbian lives and desires and imaginations whether they were fictional or not
