I still loved the characters and obviously the dragons!But this was hard to keep up with. I felt like there were so many ideas that I couldn’t wrap my head around. The last 25% of the book was amazing and I wish it was cut down by half. A lot of details just overwhelmed me. With that being said, Yarros knows how to end a book and man did she! I’m definitely hooked onto the next one!
Liked this one a tiny bit more than Fourth Wing. World and magic is already established so we can get straight to the battles. One gripe I had with this sequel was Violet. She was a little bit more annoying than the first one but that was about it. Another thing was the amount of content that could’ve been cut from the book. At times it just felt like Rebecca was talking in circles. Good plot overall, but can be condensed. Love the stakes set up at the end. Can’t wait to get into Onyx Storm.
Rebecca…… how could you. Some of the war talk was lost on me (I’m just a girl) but, honestly, this gave me exactly what I wanted and needed: top tier book boyfriend and my gal Violence; squad besties; DRAGONS OBVIOUSLY; ex-girlfriend drama even though we are literally at war; and everything about the last quarter (reveal, battle, reveal, kick ass action, REVEAL, AND SUBSEQUENT PAIN). I need the next one now pls & thx (I’ll be in the fetal position until it’s released).
