An absolute must read if you're a Pirates of the Carribbean fan or even a very good read if you're not! This is a very mid-paced book, one that will make you want to read it all in one sitting. Definitely recommend it!

Intended to go back to this one and never did. Really should, though. I love Pirates of the Caribbean and am curious to see how this book turned out.
If you're a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, you must read this.
Nice book! Explores the backstory of Cutler Beckett and Jack Sparrow with an interesting back story and more lore. Maybe on some points a bit to long
I got to page 350 and realized this wasn't worth it. Clearly, it is 300 pages too long. I was cruising along and enjoying it until about page 300 and I realized I no longer cared about the story. I think it was a bit too ambitious a project. The author should have stuck to one story instead of trying to weave past and present together. It was cumbersome and really broke up the pacing of the story.
Wow!! Pirates of the Caribbean: The Price of Freedom by A.C. Crispin is one of the best books I've read in quite awhile. I deem it the best book I've read all summer, though it took me two months to read it in its entirety.
It's an amazing tie-in book to the POTC movies, which I loved the moment I watched them; although it's not necessary to watch the films prior to picking up this book. The Price of Freedom has everything tastefully wrapped up in one story: fantasy, adventure, supernatural mystery, romance, bits of humor and wit; along with everything a reader of nautical adventure dreams about. Most of all pirates, but not all the villainous characters are pirates.
This book kept me up at night, reading the pages by lamplight and anticipating what lay ahead in the next chapter. When I first found it in a bookstore, I was appalled by the thick spine. 653 pages?! Indeed. I didn't begin reading it right away, but once I did, I was hooked. I love Captain Jack Sparrow. He is such a dimensional character, so charming and witty I could practically hear his voice in the lines of the pages. One also wouldn't think a pirate-turned-honest-seamen would have any morality or honor (especially concerning the "cargo" Cutler Beckett wants Jack to transport)but Jack is no ordinary pirate or mariner. I believe that's what makes him such an obsessively interesting character. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and plan on reading it again and again.

I'M SORRY I TRIED. It's too long i dont really care that much for the characters + barbossa is my favourite and i know there's not gonna be a lot of him in the rest of the book soooo. I think the characters are super accurate though and the original characters are pretty likable just not my type heh
