This book and/or DVD (which we ended up watching the whole way through while I only perused the book) is a must read/must view for soon-to-be new parents!
informative
I think “fully revised” just means he added a bunch of plugs for using a “smart sleeper.” Like the snoo. Which he invented.

Helpful info, probably didn’t need a full book but mostly skimmed the chapters. A lot of filler. Some new info, mostly validating our recent/current experience.
The book was well articulated, although somewhat repetitive in the later chapters. The biggest things that were helpful were his instruction on swaddling, some of the best side/stomach positions for soothing, and the explanation on weaning babies off of the 5 S's.

This book has a ton of great advice about how to soothe crying babies. As a new parent who has very little idea of what she is doing most of the time, this was really helpful. I do feel like the book is quite repetitive at times, but now that I’m in week 6 of motherhood, it makes total sense. You kinda need the repetition while this sleep deprived and struggling to remember where you last left off in the book. I also didn’t realize until finishing the book that this author also invented the snoo, which has been really helpful for our fussy son. Definitely recommend this book to all new parents!!

Rather redundant and hard to recommend to people who believe in backing claims with rigorous evidence, not anecdotes, but the five chapters covering the five S's (swaddling, swinging, shooshing, sucking, and whatever the fifth was) make those techniques seem like magic. As in, you're a failed parent if you can't get shooshing to quiet your baby. We'll see how well the techniques work (they seem to have worked for friends). (Edit: Now that I have a one year-old, I realize I couldn’t have survived without the techniques in this book and recommend it to friends.)
I would recommend watching the 10 minute video on YouTube instead, which is way less repetitive.
