Prequel, so light on tension or narrative, but does fill in the world a bit.

I definitely enjoyed finally learning about Erica's backstory, as grim as it is, as well as a little bit more about how the House of Slaughter works.

Pretty standard origin story and a stopgap of a volume. Art style also not as striking as in the first 3 volumes.

April 2023. Volumes 4-5 of a paranormal horror graphic novel.

The series continues to be fascinating and intense. We lean more about Erica Slaughter and The House of Slaughter, and their origins, and Erica moves on to investigate a new case and new monster.

I’m caught up to the completed volumes, but looks like Hoopla has more issues I can check out with my monthly borrows. It also looks like there’s a spin-off series called “House of Slaughter” I may check out as well.
Volumes 4-5 cover issues 16-25. borrowed in physical form from Sac library. Definitely recommend, though “The Nice House on the Lake” is now my favorite series by James Tynion IV of the severs I’ve tried.

“Something is Killing the Children” vol 4-5 by James Tynion IV, art and colorization by Werther Dell’edera and Miquel Muerto.
