EN: I chose "Hopscotch" (1963), by Julio Cortázar, as my main companion from July 19th until the end of August. And what perfect choice - what a "journey" we lived together this Summer!

I must admit that, at the beginning, our "relationship" had its "ups and downs". There were times I didn't understand a thing, and wondered what I got myself into. However, as I kept reading, the experience turned out to be quite fun. I figured this is an excellent book for someone who wants to get in touch with a different way of conceiving a story (meaning: this book is considered to be an "anti-novel", it can be read in many different ways, and it compels the reader to be a co-creator of the plot).

Still, even with the motivation to "dive" in "Hopscotch", I feel the reader needs to have the time and the patience for it, and accept that this book is really a "puzzle", with both none and plenty of possible "solutions".

mysterious reflective slow-paced

A great book about the pretentiousness of pseudo-intellectuals, the search for meaning, and grief. Horacio Oliveira is a compelling yet truly horrible man that is lost in a world of his own making.
