Here's my November 2008 Review (4 Stars); "I just finished reading through through the direct way (1-56). It was more than good enough to make me want to come back later and read it hopscotch with the expendable chapters.

This probably dosen't make sense unless you've opened the book.

Ah well. "

Here's my November 2013 Review (5 Stars); An amazing novel. One that unfolds before you (especially if you've read it before) and plays with concept and memory-aspect of rereading as freely as it moves the characters about. Well worth the read, and especially worth the reread.

Seinfeldian in that it's about nothing at all. The characters are tedious, unlikeable pseudo-intellectuals (which is the joke). Oliveira, in particular, is a prig.

I didn't have the courage to do the hopscotch method this first time around. 350 pages was more than enough.

Cortázar was so talented that it wasn't entirely unenjoyable. I much prefer 62: A Model Kit (which was spawned from this work)

What a beast.

I don't get it
