Karin Slaughter

3.96 AVERAGE

As always, Karin Slaughter absolutely kills it (pun intended?). This book was one I couldn't put down and was the perfect vacay read. I think I got through this in 2 days.

The mysterious death of a girl found in the woods and the suspicion around a cult like family had me on the edge of my seat. I also enjoyed following sara and Jeffrey's story. Looking forward to what's in store for them in book 6! (I'm scared because I know what happens and am not ready to face it, anyone else read the other series first?
challenging dark mysterious

Much better than the third and fourth books in the series!!

I can't get enough of these characters and I want to know what happens with Lena. Some of her choices are so frustrating that it makes you want to scratch your eyes it. Yet, I am still holding on to some hope for her.

I keep falling in love with Sara and Jeffery with every installment. I like that they are not a perfect couple. Their flaws and arguments make them relatable. Their relationship reminds me of something Monica told Chandler in Friends, "I don’t believe in soulmates, and I don’t think that you & I were destined to end up together. What I do believe is that we fell in love & that we work hard for our relationship." I wonder if anyone else feels the same way.

The plot was good, but it wasn't great. Sometimes it was difficult to keep track of the characters, of which there are a lot in this book. But her books are kept alive by her recurring characters; the drama of their lives keeping you hooked.

This is the 5th book in the series and there is one more to go. I wonder where the characters will end up!
dark tense slow-paced

my least favorite book of her so far, but since i'm not reading the series in order and don't know jackshit about most of the characters it's partially on me, so the focus on the characters was a bit lost on me and the crime wasn't too compelling

also jeffrey is just the most annoying man to ever man (and cop)

3.5

Just one more book in the series

Paperback

I could not stand these characters and pages would go by with tangent after tangent. The book could be cut in half if it focused on just the story.

This book was just meh. I like these characters, but their stories have gotten monotonous.
