Hi. Yes. This book series is obviously the end because it ends on a decent happy note and there is no book six.

I think I’m just so caught up in the excitement from the book before that this wasn’t as exciting. It was creepy in a good way. I love this whole series !
dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

When Jeffrey and Sara discover the body of a teenage girl, the investigation leads to an organic farm/cult. Lena, meanwhile, is recovering from an abortion and suffering in an abusive relationship.

I found this particular mystery a bit less interesting than some of her others, but this author does character development so well. I've found myself more and more drawn to Lena's story. Even when she makes mistakes, you always feel you understand her. You want her to get better, to find happiness. Her friendship with Sybil's partner is particularly touching. Even when the central mystery fails to grab your attention, it's always wonderful to come back to Grant County.

I hadn't read any of this series in a while but had no trouble remembering the characters. Great stuff!

The 5th book in Slaughter's Grant County series and I can say that I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Probably because this story isn't filled with wasted page upon page of the main characters, Sara and Jeffrey, bickering unnecessarily about how screwed up their relationship is (although the beginning does have a medical scare that Jeffrey brings up having to do with the affair he had 5 years previously, causing me to say "here we go again", but it turns out to be a minor part of the story). Instead, we are treated to a pretty well thought out mystery involving girls buried alive, religious cults, and spousal abuse. Oh, and if you like your endings to books filled with rainbows and kittens, don't read this one. Things never seem to end happily in Grant County, but now I have to go and read #6 in the series and I have a bad feeling about that one.

One of my favorite series with some cult-like religious craziness? Yes please! Perfectly dark and creepy. I can't believe I'm almost done with the series! :(

Wow that one was long! The story just didn't grab me & so much...preaching. and to much Lena!
Or was god but not great.
