The first book wasn't super impressive to me, but dang, this one had surprising resonance and depth that I really appreciated. There was still stuff about the writing or story that confused me or left me scratching my head, but there's still some really great stuff in here.

A good follow-up to The War That Saved My Life. Not sure I loved it quite as much, but I can't think of anything the author could have done to change that. The War That Saved My Life was just so fresh and a unique well told story. This was a continuation which automatically made it slightly less fresh. Still, it was nice to see Ada and Jamie progressing and growing emotionally so I'm glad I read it and would happily recommend it.
