I adored both books about Ada and her brother. I intentionally slowed my pace in the second half as I didn’t want it to ever end. 4.5 Stars
Like a lot of WWII fiction, this is simultaneously depressing and uplifting, but you can't help root for prickly Ada as she learns to navigate life after being freed from an abusive home. Terrific.

This book was a delight. I really enjoyed reading it, and it was a rollercoaster. I felt so close to crying at times, and was sad for Ada, but there were happy, uplifting times, too, and ultimately a happy ending. I love this duology, and I highly recommend it to fans of 'The War That Saved My Life'. It was a satisfying, exciting conclusion.

Audio: the 2nd and final chapter of Ada, a young evacuee in London/Kent in WWII, who suffers from trauma on many fronts, but shows pluck and resilience beyond her years. There were some really moving passages as Ada grapples with war, what it means to love someone, and how to flow with the many feelings she experiences during the awful times, and the good. Positivity lovely (I think this is a YA series, but sometimes you just need a simple feel-good story, right?)

I thought the first book was awesome. The second is also amazing. I love Ada and even though she can be prickly, I admire her courage and spirit.
