This is such a sweet book . It’s a great sequel to Te War That Saved my Life .
My 9&13 year olds both loved it.we listened to the Audio version . The narrator does an excellent job .

I loved the first book and this is a worthy sequel. I cried buckets too, but mostly for the right reasons. Most of the book is really about Ada processing her anger, and all the abuse and neglect she had suffered in early childhood. And Ruth! I liked Ruth a lot too. Sooooooooo good.

An excellent sequel to an excellent book!

Another beautiful story about Ada. The uncertainty and terror of the war is vividly brought to life, particularly for children who would have not understood or known exactly what was happening.
Ada shows, once again, her bravery in the face of physical and emotional danger. She is an inspiration.

This book is even better than the first one. I love how the author deals with trauma and its lingering effects, but also offers hope for healing. Additionally, I've learned so much about what WW2 was like for people living in England.

A worthy sequel to The War That Saved My Life. It's wonderful to see Ada learn to know herself as the book progresses. I loved every single character and was deeply invested in them. I loved how this group of people, some related and some not, formed a family. Jamie talked about their new house being a cave, and towards the end, when Ada says, "Our cave is big enough for everyone," it just encapsulated how these people had truly come to care for and love each other. To build that in the middle of a terrible war, in the middle of so much loss, is a beautiful thing.
