This sequel was on par with the first book. I loved every moment of it. As someone interested in WWII books, this was great because seeing everything through a child's lens is a great way to get a different perspective. I loved the continued character growth in this novel and was pleased that it had both a happy beginning and a happy ending.

You know when you read a book and you love it so much you want to immediately buy it so you can keep it close by forever? This book, and the first book, are two of those books for me. The War I Finally Won is powerful, real, and complex with rich emotional storytelling about the life of a young girl living in England during World War II. Each chapter seamlessly moves through the story with no break in momentum. I was wrapped up in Ada's story and did not want it to be over. Pick up this read, and The War That Saved My Life (to be read first), and savor every minute. Don't be fooled by the middle grade level - it is a story is for all readers.

For those who loved The War that Saved My Life, the sequel entirely lives up to the brilliance and emotional force of the first book.

This is another brilliant exploration of trauma and the journey towards a kind of healing. With some of the bravest, most human characters you’ll ever know, this is a quietly wise book.

It has the feeling of a classic in the making. You won’t forget it. To quote the book, “It was the sort of story you hoped might be true.”

I didn’t think it was possible for this sequel to be better than the first book in the series, The War that Saved My Life, but it was. Five stars and tears at the end! This was also a perfect book for social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic. The Second World War struggles and privations of the protagonists somehow made my own situation easier to bear.

As always, Jayne Entwistle was a wonderful narrator.

Great follow up to The War that Saved My Life. I read it in one day - loved how it handled how Ada didn't magically have a happy ever after even though she was adopted.

Loved this book almost as much as the first. I would recommend to anyone.

Just as good as the first! LOVE these characters.

Definitely not as good as the first one but still a light and good read.

It took me longer to get into this book, but I think the fact that it had a been well over a year (almost two) since I'd read the first one had a lot to do with that.
