I really liked this book, and I can see why some people did not.

That being said, this book found its audience in me. I am a girl in my 20’s (albeit late 20s) who has lacked in close friends for most of this decade, and the feeling of fomo has been all consuming, embarrassing as it is. This book felt like Renuka was speaking to me directly, and I did feel less alone as a result. I loved the exercises; simple and effective and I feel the goal they are helping me set out is something I can accomplish.

I do think there is value in having friends and spending time with others. And it is just important to find times where you are with community— but that’s not what this book is about. I think it’s looking for folks who might be feeling a loss for not having that close-knit network you see on tv or if you have grown apart from friendships, it can be hard to cope and learn how to be on your own. A lot of people are afraid to be alone, and I think that is who the author is trying to target.

If you match my description and feel negative about spending a lot of your time alone, I think you would benefit from this read. I know I did.

I could tell by chapter 3 that this wasn’t the book for me. I think that at 32 I’m too old for this kind of material. It comes off as an angsty 20 year old standing in your living room ranting at you about how you’ll never be able to change. The narration comes across a bit bitter and angry, not like the ‘soft kiss’ as the author claims the words are.

It’s very bold to state that you will not ever meet a ‘soul-friend’ post college - only people to network with. That sounds like a young person who has no idea what life is like post college.

It’s also pretty rich to condescend to the reader and call people who search up help for productivity on YouTube or in a book helpless and powerless then later say we should be learning from YouTube and podcasts but are too scared to take the initiative. Which is it?

There were so many grammatical errors too they were distracting. So many sentences didn’t make sense because they weren’t constructed properly.

Really simple text with noticabel grammatical errors and a lil bit of mispellings.

Why tf is this so overhyped on social media
And its EVEN SO EXPENSIVE BEING 11$ on AMAZON LIKE WAT,. THIS SHOULD BE LIKE 3$ or smth, this aint even doing anything tbh, its kinda things that ive already heard ppl in real life say to meeeeeeee

I prefer classic spiritual or Stoic books over modern self-help books, but this one was ok, and it was easy to read. The book emphasizes to embrace your loneliness and utilise your alone time in learning, self development, and enjoying your own company. Being a person who likes to stay alone, I agree with the author on many things..
