Gorgeous. Mostly wordless. Wall of generations built up by the barrier of language breached by art. There is almost kind of a story of the art. But really the story is the connection. And the combination of very different art.

This book uses sparse dialogue and stunning illustrations to tell the story of a young person and his grandfather using art to connect, despite speaking different languages.

I cried, my classmates cried, my friends cried.

A young boy visits his grandfather. Unfortunately he doesn’t speak Vietnamese and his grandfather doesn’t speak English. They find common ground in drawing together. Beautiful artwork blends the old world with the new world.

Gosh, this is lovely. Perfectly explains a clash of cultures between the young and old. Great for older young kid read aloud.
