3'5 en realidad.
Sí que es verdad que se me ha hecho bastante más pesado de lo que ya esperaba, pero también tengo que admitir que me ha gustado bastante más de lo que podría haber llegado a esperar.

Not my kind of book but I think it would be a good book for someone who is interested in Puritan literature.
I cannot actually believe that it took me this long to read. How did this take me nearly a month?!
But anyway, it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. It was very preachy while at the same time trying to show that it, quite literally, takes two to tango. There were so many pages that were just not necessary and could so easily have been taken out.
My mum once said that Americans have a way of filling an entire book with what can be said in a chapter. And I have never seen anything that would fit this book more.

Hester Prynne is a badass! Within the context of her story, she presents a striking image of a strong woman who knows her power and accepts the consequences of her actions with head held high. Instead of running away to start life fresh, she stays and makes the most of her situation without rubbing it in anyone's face. In contrast to the way the entire town judges and alienates her, she treats them with kindness and helps them always. She's so consistently good to others that they start thinking of her as a saint, even though they're still socially isolating her.
The story is kind of whatever for me. It's a small town where not much happens, and the most exciting thing is a woman having a child out of wedlock. Which, to be fair, was a big deal back then, but the town also doesn't have anything else to talk about.
The reveal of Hester's baby daddy is unexpected and we watch him torture himself over a guilt conscience. So much so, that his physical health declines. This isn't helped by Hester's husband (who the town doesn't know is her husband) stalking him and preying on his guilt even more.
I wouldn't recommend this book to most people, but I'm glad I read it because I can take the idea of Hester with me - her pride, determination, and self-possession - and like the townsfolk, take inspiration from her strength.

Such a disappointment! This is the first book that I have to read for my english class and I was so excited to start reading it! I knew nothing of the subject and so I allowed myself to be hopeful, but it fell flat. This is the american version of all those old boring romanian books, about the simple lives but full of drama of some normal people. The themes and the happenings in these kind of books are not current anymore, so we can't emphasize with the characters and neither fully understand how and why those things are happening.
I read it in english, of course, and the old language used for it was just another proof of why this book is not of any real use to me right now, as a 21st century human.
Some things were exaggerated too much, especially how much witches and elves were brought in the discussion. I felt like it was the author's obsession to make all the things related either to Satan or God, and unfortunataly, the world isn't only black or only white.
I didn't like any of the characters because the author didn't exactly worked on developing them and I feel like all their discussions were forced. The only character I liked turned out to be the bad guy, and sometimes I ask myself, why do I even try with school books anymore.
Maybe I am harsh, but I am angry most than anything and tired and sick of this book. I'm so done with so called classics that write boring things about things I don't care even the slightest about.
