Kind of disappointed in the last book in this series. This one has expanded POVs that I didn’t care about, confusing action scenes, and it just felt like a lot of padding. I pretty much skimmed the last 50 pages just to get it over with but I give the whole series 4 stars as a whole and hopefully I’ll understand it more on a reread and will give it 5 stars!

A very satisfying conclusion to a really good series. Two main highlights throughout: the setting and the characters.
The constant stream of different and interesting alien beings and cultures was probably the best of any series I've read. Every single one of them was sympathetic (with the exception of humans - we're consistently horrible). Even the unknowable, unfathomably powerful, galaxiea-conquering Essiel are somehow absolutely adorable.
The characters are just great. Every major character is nicely flawed, and has a really good arc. So many of the characters brilliantly thread the needle through the series of their character's role developing, but their underlying beliefs and attitudes staying consistent. Lots of them end up in fairly unimaginable situations from where they started, but are still clearly the same character. Especially Olli. God bless Olli, she is an absolute treasure and must be protected at all costs.
I did find some of the unspace sections hard to follow, but that also feels somewhat understandable because it's a setting which fundamentally doesn't translate into human dimensions. And overall the plot of the series was fine but nothing special. Perfectly good enough though, and the characters make it all work.

I'm happy to say I've completed the journey. Great space opera. There was a bit of a drag in the first half and times when I lost the plot a little, but I'm glad I saw it through and have minimal questions about loose ends.

Starts slow, but at about 20% it revs up and absolutely slaps all the way to the end.
