There were parts of this I really enjoyed and parts that simply sailed right over my head.

An entertaining, informative graphic novel composed of well-known stories about Richard Feynman, sourced from his autobiography and other materials.

Kept me reading, but....there isn't that much here. Just a basic outline of his life, sketched out, told in first person. I wasn't left with any sense of what it was that made Feynman special or that makes other people love him so much. He comes across as a pretty smart guy who was maybe a bit of a showman.

This is the first graphic novel I have read and I am really glad I started with this book. The book is a biography of Richard Feynman as told from his point of view. My favorite sections are the ones describing his relationship with his sister Joan, who became an astrophysicist. One anecdote tells about her finding one of Richard's books and writing him asking advice to understand it. His answer is to "start at the beginning and read as far as you can get until you're lost. Then start again at the beginning and keep working through until you can understand the whole book. And that's what she did." There is also a fascinating section toward the end providing a brief explanation of QED (quantum electrodynamics). The drawings really add clarity in this section. Overall I found this book very well done and an enjoyable read.

i just loved this book. it took my mind on a journey through science and history. by the end of it all, i think i had a crush on feynman - genius, safecracker, art lover, teacher. the guy is brilliant and ottaviani and myrick do an amazing job of bringing him to life.

aside from the stories and the science, the illustration is top notch. this has replaced persepolis as my favorite graphic novel. it's beautiful how panel backgrounds change from section to section. there's a cheekiness in the dialogue and truly each frame represents a work of art in itself. i want to buy one for my apartment!
