This was a wonderful introduction to the story. The following are all of the things that are interesting about this comic: the protagonist's personality, the protagonist's family life, the protagonist's interests and decisions and how they relate to the major plotline, and the plotline itself. I am very excited to continue with this series.

I liked it. It still felt way too brief blah blah blah (I'm tired of saying this every time I review any comic books, graphic novels, manga, etc.) but I thought it was good. It's definitely awesome to see a super hero with a different background, and you get quite a bit of culture from family interactions. I'm not sure that I'll read any more since this just isn't really my thing, but I'll certainly buy them all for the school library!

This is the first chapter in Kamala Khan's journey to become the new Ms. Marvel, and G. Willow Wilson did an excellent job in laying the groundwork for this journey. Kamala and I are quite similar in that we are awkward girls with strict, religious parents of the Abrahamic persuasion (Muslim in her case, Christian in mine). The fight she had with her parents at the dinner table could have been torn from my own diary when I was sixteen, as I'm willing to bet is the case with most other readers. Besides being relatable, Kamala is just adorable. I loved the whole sequence where she hallucinated Captain Marvel appearing to her like a divine intervention, with Captain America and Iron Man tagging along in the background. At the end of issue #1 Kamala has yet to understand that she has powers or to meet the real Carol Danvers, and I cannot wait to see it unfold. 4.5 stars.

I honestly didn't know anything going into this comic, but I really enjoyed it. Since it was so short (being a single comic), I finished this in like five minutes. I loved the concept of a Muslim Pakistani-American being a hero in this kind of story, but I was very confused at the end, to be honest. I am not sure who she was talking to (it showed her favorite heroes, but I have no idea if it was really them). She told them what she wanted, and I really think that is going to cause problems within her family and just everyone she knows. I am interested to see where this series will go, so I definitely plan on picking up the rest of the series very soon. Overall, the artwork was beautiful, the dialogue was great, and I am super excited to get my hands on the next issue in this series!

Cute! Fresh! Fun!
Not deep, but very entertaining, and quite often funny. I'm looking forward to the next volume.

I'm super excited about this comic even though I'm just getting around to reading it now. I love that it really seems to represent what America actually looks like and the fact that it is centered around a regular teenage girl.
The colors and the art really pop and it's very reader friendly, which I appreciate as a comic noob.
Can't wait to read more.
