As someone diagnosed with EUPD, I am quite familiar with Psychopathy, because it is thought by some to be a personality disorder. For that reason, parts of this book were actually quite triggering for me, but I thought the story and narration by Clare Corbett were both too good to give up on.

The story is far fetched and only skims the surface on Psychopathy, but the narration kept me hooked. I could believe that Julie was a real person, even though she had very little capacity for emotions and no empathy whatsoever. She's not a character to route for but still engaging somehow.

The plot is quite fast paced and honestly had me stressed listening to it - Julie is quite terrifying in that she really doesn't see the wrong in anything she does. I'd like to think that people like Julie don't exist, but I'm sure they do.

Overall, it's a solid, fairly quick read with lots of twists and turns. There are mentions of some heavier subject matters, so be aware if you're thinking of reading it. It's not for the faint of heart but I would recommend it to fans of Yellowface.

The first few pages grab you, and it’s off to the races. But somehow you get left behind through it all? I feel like the intent behind this book was great, and I did love that the main character wasn’t sympathetic (IMO). Made for a more interesting read. But I do feel like other characters were introduced and quickly dispatched, and some plot points happened so quickly you question if it was real or a dream.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark for the review copy of Julie Tudor is Not a Psychopath! This was a fast-paced, darkly funny ride with serious “stalker Bridget Jones” energy. Julie is undeniably unhinged, yet oddly compelling—and even though some of the darker themes didn’t totally work for me, the wild plot and razor-sharp narration kept me turning pages. A twisty, entertaining escape for fans of messy main characters and morally murky fun.

It was too cringey to keep going. At first, I enjoyed it. I loved how unhinged Julie is. But I kept wanting to scream at her. I had to stop reading.

I would still give it 4 stars for evoking such extreme reactions, making me want to throw my Kobo across the room.

Highly recommended for people who enjoy this type of story.

Well that wasn’t what I was expecting and I’m not quite sure how I feel about it! On one hand I was propelled to keep reading on the other hand how awful can a human being be?

I think the cover and the description of the book made me feel like the book was going to be a bit more lighthearted. And it certainly tried to bring a quirky humor and general levity to the goings on inside the FMCs head  but it wasn’t fully effective as it got too “serious dark”. All that is to say is that the FMC truly does have deep seated mental illness and sociopathy.

Over all the book was well written and fast paced. There was some repetition that made it feel a bit bogged down at points but it was quick to get back on track.

But overall I was intrigued and enjoyed watching most of it unfold. I was disappointed in the ending though as it wrapped up so quickly that it felt like I was missing something.

The. lol comes out June 24th 2025 if you want to take a stab at it! I will say that I think this book would be very effective in audio format so I may check it out once published.

I am thankful to have gotten a complimentary eARC  from Sourcebooks- Landmark through NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.

“Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath” is an incredibly entertaining thriller that I devoured in under a day. The fast-paced narrative kept me hooked from start to finish, with twists and turns that made it impossible to put down. The main character, Julie, is delightfully quirky with a personality that teeters on the edge of being a bit psycho, making her both intriguing and fun to follow. Her unique perspective adds a layer of complexity to the story, keeping you guessing and invested in her journey. Overall, this book is a must-read for fans of suspenseful stories with engaging characters and a gripping plot. 4.5 stars.
funny

Well, I can say that Julie Tudor will not let anything get in the way of true love, be it a wife, girlfriend, or even the reality that the guy might not reciprocate that love! It was quite entertaining to see the schemes Julie concocted  to achieve her goals because some of them were quite wild. I guess it helped that she did not connect with people in the usual way, though she had her more human moments with Gareth and Frank that were sweet and gave me hope that maybe the body count wouldn't rise any higher (though that was not the case, Julie is nothing if not persistent!)

This was a story that flew by for me and was easy to be hooked until the inevitable end, though I do admire Julie's optimism for a future be it with a man or helping get rid of a pest problem for the director! Entertaining to read about but I am glad I don't know anyone like Julie! Though I would love to see some of her artwork.
