A great fantasy book this story follows lira the siren princess and prince Elian the reknowned siren killer/hunter.
Initially being punished by her mother and made human to take Elians heart.  They wind up hunting for a jewel that in human hands could end the sirens and in sirens hands end the humans but the outcome is neither and you’ll have to read to find out.

Somewhat of a slow burn enemies to lovers too I enjoyed this fantasy despite it not pertaining the kind of magic and format I love in fantasy normally it was amazing and very well written and one to stay on my shelf for a lifetime.

we are simply going to ignore how my busy life now means this took me 6 days to read rather than my usual max of 2
this was such an enjoyable and different read for me, i really enjoy fairy tale adaptations and i definitely saw the little mermaid in this albeit a darker version with both mcs being very morally grey (lira i support your rights and your wrongs)
ultimately this has half dragged me out of the depths of the worst reading slump ever which is definitely to be commended

This book is a re-imagining of The Little Mermaid (which I didn’t realize when going into the book), but with pirates, sirens and murder. Lira’s mother is essentially Ursula, but this version of Ariel and Prince Eric are just so much more interesting. It is a darker version of the original story, with a lot more adventure and violence. My main criticism with the book was that it started a bit slowly so it took me a while to get into it, and then that I wish there had been more of a clear, slow burn with those characters. It felt like their romantic relationship wasn’t hinted at early enough, and it definitely could have benefited from a bit longer to develop.
