I considered giving up on Nancy after this one--it introduces Ned, but other than that, honestly feels like a repeat of one of the previous books with only the tiniest of changes. Even the stakes didn't seem perilously high in this one (although maybe they should have). I considered giving up on Nancy all together, but I'm curious about #9 so I guess I'll re-evaluate after that one.

This was a unique mystery in the series for a couple reasons. First, Nancy is working against law enforcement in this one, even to the point of withholding evidence. You have to suspend your disbelief (and laugh out loud a few times), but it was still a fun read. I mean it’s Nancy Drew, of course she possesses casual knowledge of the Swedish language. Convenient! Also, Nancy is flustered by a boy for the first time! Apparently Ned continues to make an appearance in subsequent volumes as Nancy’s boyfriend, so we have that to look forward to.

i read to escape from law school, then find that the subject matter of this book is about patent law and intellectual property.

One of the less thrilling Nancy Drews out there.

First siting of Ned Nickerson! But--not as good a beginning or mystery as others.

This one was very fast paced and exciting pretty much the whole way through. As things have gotten more serious in the series I find it easier and much more enjoyable to read even if they are meant for young readers.

I've heard of Nancy Drew but I've never read it or seen the movie. It's an excellent book. I love it. Nancy is a very clever for a 16 year old. I expected Nancy to be more like Sherlock Holmes but then I realize that she's somewhat of a beginner. Nevertheless, I love her as a character as she's strong, likes to help, kind, thinks fast and never gives up. Once again, excellent book. I would totally recommend for those of you who love detective/mystery stories.
