A James Rollins book I really liked! Excellent action/adventure, no blind and razor-toothed creatures.

I picked this up at the used book store quite a while ago, but never got around to reading it. I finally picked it up. Overall, I enjoyed it, though there were some definite problems. First, the romance came out of nowhere and wasn't really well done at all. Second, by the time I got to the end of the book, I couldn't remember why they were doing this in the first place. I also had a hard time believing their conclusions. They felt like this:
"Hey! If that a tiny picture of a star on that wall over there? Then the answer to this "riddle" MUST be about the fabled star of whosiwhatsit because he lived just 46.2 miles from here and I heard that he wore a hat that had a star on it."
Yes, that makes perfect sense.

This book was very slow and I found the ending to be anticlimactic. If this had been a stand-alone, I wouldn't have bothered to finish it.An intriguing concept about Christian relics and the Three Wise Men, however.

I had sooooo much fun reading this book, the second in the Sigma Force series. I got to look up lots of stuff and try to see what was real and what wasn’t.
Some stuff I looked up: m-state metals (monoatomic metals), the Order of Dragons, how many Magi were there?, heap-leach cyanide recovery method to extract precious metals , Meissner Fields and superconducting metals,Catharism, Thomas Chrstians, the Chinon Parchment.
There were more.
Non-stop action, believable storyline not going too far afield, fleshed out characters, hateable bad guys, and never sure who was on which side. What more can you want from a thriller!
