DID NOT FINISH: 13%

This was so cringe, and I just can't do cringe. After two chapters I checked the reviews, and learned that it takes them THIRTEEN YEARS to get together. Absolutely can't do it.

Release Date: February 21, 2016
Genre: Chick Lit
Actual Rating: 2 stars

Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. While I love the way the author builds her characters up and makes them fun, this book was missing something. I think it's the fact that I was unable to relate to the heroine for starters. There simply wasn't enough background for her and I had trouble connecting with her. Even more, there was so much time passed in between chapters and I didn't feel like I was able to be a part of the journey. How after so many years and so many "chance" meetings did these two NOT see how much they loved each other? It came off as unrealistic and downright frustrating. Finally, there was way too much going on in such a short book. Had the author taken the time and made this a full length novel and built the characters up more then I would have liked it.

While this book didn't personally work for me, I will tell you that I love the Dilbury Village series (also by the author). I certainly plan to continue the novels in that series as they release and am quite frankly really excited to dive back in.

Ok this book is pure cheddar! But then who doesn't enjoy the odd cheese and pickle baguette.

Yep this book is definitely a cheese ploughmans.

Its a fab midday lunch.... I devoured this book on the beach

Cheese - It has it in the bucket loads...
Pickle - The sour that makes it, though it wouldn't go as well with anything else... 14 years of loving each other apart, but any other time it may not have worked....
The bread - The beast friend and Jean Claude.
The side salad - the Hilarious dating around....
Butter - Daisy

And the Glass of wine - All the exotic creams shoots and pampering she gets being a model....

Yea im going to give it a 4 - 4.5 star on the fact that a hot pink car custom painted takes precedence over a Cambridge education, and the lack of communication between Alec, Paige And Jean Claude... but Maybe that car got her the happy ending!

A very funny and enjoyable read.

I'm not usually a Rom-Com reader but this was just what I needed.
A true British romance.
Alec and Paige - a lifetime of will they won't they. The wrong place and the wrong time.

My favourite line

3.5* Still funny, entertaining... but my least favourite of her books. I hate to have so many timeskips that often skip interesting parts of the story. It felt like a rush. After 1 chapter we have the first time skip and within the first 6 chapters we have skipped 4 years. 3 chapters later we skip another 6 years and the happy end happens after a total of 13 years. In this way I start the book thinking "ah the protagonist is a teenager, well a bit young than I expected but alright", when in reality most of the story she is in her mid/late 20ies. I'd rather enjoy to start the story in the middle and have 2 chapters of backflashes than having to adapt every odd chapter to the protagonist's new live situation and in the end skipping half of her life.

Really cute

This was a really cute book. About two people who fell for each other but the timing was never right. Cute story, cute ending. No angst or anything that I typically look for but well done.

This was such a light and funny story! I related on a personal level because I can remember that boy that I was head over heals for and believed that we would be the best couple ever (if he ever noticed me :)). I laughed so much through this book. The characters are so believable I could have actually been the main character!
It is not secret that I am a fan of CJ Fallowfield. Enjoyed this new genre of her writing! Looking forward to reading more of her romantic comedies!!!

Ok so seriously this book was awesome to read!!! The chapter names had me giggling before I even started!!! I mean the first chapter is called "The Cow's Arse" You know this is going to be good and make you wonder what the hell is going to happen to these people with the names of these chapters!!!

So let's talk about Paige, poor, poor Paige. That gal can't seem to get anything to go her way no matter what. She HAS to be one of the most accident prone people I have ever read about (I mean she makes me look good and accident free). I am sorry, but she has to be "that girl" that "those things" happen to, you know, that one person that you hear about that none of us believes is real.

Her best friend is amazingly full of snark, sass, and is witty as all hell. Of course, she would have to be around Paige!! I don't know how she keeps talking Paige into some of these things. SMH ....... these two are uproariously funny through this book!!

So the book starts as Paige is a young woman about to finish school, before university, and is a member of the young farmers club (kind of reminds me of a 4H here in the states). Let me tell you, the things this poor gal deals with seems to be a comedy of errors. Little does she realize, this isn't going to be the only time this is going to happen to her.

~SIGH~

Poor, poor Paige. However, this book is a terrifically fun read. Make sure you are not trying to eat or drink while reading, I don't want you to choke. Grab this book and have some fun laughing and being grateful that this isn't your life story.
