The first time I've noticed that the anime diverted from the manga. (If I remember correctly)

The chase continues and it seems like Light Yagami is finally getting cornered. But will Near and Mello be able to defeat him? Light seems to be getting dangerously close to being a proper villain, from the events of this book.

Still unhappy with the female characterization in the series. Can't wait to see how Light's journey ends.

I have mixed feelings on this. For a long time it was a three star for me, unfortunately, because it had a long patch where it was pretty "meh" and actually started becoming boring, which is why it took me so long to finish it.
I'm not sure what it is, it's something about the scenes with Near that slows it down for me. But, I don't dislike Near as a character, he is a good oponent to Light, but there's something about how he is written that I think does him badly. In my personal opinion there is too much focus on making him quirky with toys and things like that to show how similar he is to L. But that's not how they did it with L, they had it there with his sugar obsession, but it didn't focus on it, only used it as a tool to show his mood and make him more charming. There's also something about how Near was introduced that is almost clumsy and forced. By changing those two things he would be just as fascinating and I guess equal to L himself.

On the positive, suspence and pace picked up towards the end, leaving each chapter at a cliffhanger. If they keep that up the next book will be a five star.

I loved this series so much!!!

Oh man! Oh man oh man oh man! A lot of action in this book. An evil genius named Mello gets his hands on Light's notebook and more trouble ensues for Light and his plan for a perfect world! But I have to wonder - is this Mello really as evil as he seems? Or is he plotting against Light by fighting fire with fire?

Light seems to have his hands pretty full at the moment, and he can't be caught now by this evil genius running amok. So he orders Misa to give up the ownership of her notebook so he can plot his next move.

Misa really irritates me, so this seems like a fine plan for now, but too bad he can't rid her from his life as she is just much too attached.

3,5/5

There were many twists and turns in this volume that I enjoyed very much. The closer I get to the end of this series, the more I don't want to see it end!

I wish people wouldn’t hate on Near so much. I actually quite like him. Looking forward to reading the last part now.
