This volume wasn't terrible, it actually has some pretty interesting twists, the problem I have with it is that it doesn't bring anything new into the mix. From the start to the end not much has actually changed, there's just been a lot of back and forth between the opposing characters.

A very action packed volume this time! Near and Mello are growing on me gradually and I think they are well executed foes even though they pale in comparison to my sweet boy L.It was disappointing that Light had to kill his father but it did add some extra oomph to the growing tension. The book is at a great point right now where everything is super tense and suspenseful and engaging and I really love that! I really can’t believe that Light has scraped through this far without suspicion and am even feeling sorry for poor Misa who has lost and regained her memory WAY too many times... I still want more Ryuk and shinigami shenanigans and hope that the conclusion to this drama bomb hits the mark, solid and true.

if we catch kira then kira is evil. if kira rules the world, then kira is good.

this volume actually has a lot of interesting moral dilemmas about the morality of arresting kira, miss L a lot i do think killing him was sooo shocking and made sense but i do miss that lil weirdo, kira’s kingdom as an american who is currently living in this wackjob political climate is sooo eerie.

It took me 4 years to pick this up after what had happened in the last volume. 4 years.
And I'm sad to say that I'm pretty disappointed with this one. It feels like this story has started to spiral downwards.

Firstly the characters are just not what they used to be. I miss some of the old ones *sniff* and there are so many new ones that it is hard to keep track sometimes.
It makes me annoyed that the author killed off arguably the best character to replace him with an almost exact copy of him who thinks, behaves and even looks like him. It's such a cop-out to make readers feel pain when that character died but also lazy writing to just create a duplicate of that character but just give them a different name...

Then there's the way the women are portrayed. *sigh* There's been a problem with this right from when Misa was introduced in the second volume. But now there are more examples of women being put in the story purely to act stupid and do exactly what Light says...ugh

I just feel like the momentum has gone, everyone knows Light is Kira and yet no one is doing anything about it and we are going through the same motions that have already been explored in some of the other volumes.
Yeah... disappointing.
