Audiobook

This book on phenomenological therapy introduced me to the concept of "self loss". Chapter 7 (Mental Decluttering) was the most impactful and memorable for me.

3.5 - this was a great book and made me think more deeply about a lot of concepts that I haven’t thought about before or haven’t thought about at all before. The author weaves her own anecdotes with those of her clients in a way that allows the reader to connect with the sometimes complex existential topics she covers. I like reading books that encourage me to turn inwards, and this book does that! Some of the existential analysis she presented was familiar to me (albeit in different words) so I do think I would give it 4 stars if it happened to be more novel for me.

I didn't really know anything about "existential psychology" before reading this one and found it pretty interesting. Lots of good take-aways, but maybe I just find philosophical questions of our meaning/purpose/self a little too hard to focus on...maybe that's the point? Still glad I read it and it gave me lots to think about!

I’m more proud of having read this book than of the experience of reading it.

It wasn’t groundbreaking, but it was a nice read, and it prompted some small changes in me that I’ll try to stick with.

I might even reread it—it had great self-reflection questions and felt like a solid guide for an honest conversation with yourself.
