This book was not entirely what I expected but still absolutely wonderful. The epilogue had me crying and hoping for more about Sabé. I’d also love more about Padmé in the early years as a senator, and look forward to Queen’s Peril this year.

I bought this book 2 years ago but for some reason haven’t read it until now- It was a very good book but took me some time because of my school work. I enjoyed everything about this book except the relationship between Sabé and Tonra. It just didn’t sit right with me how she told him she loves Padmé and then a page later they’re sleeping together. And when I actually started to like Clovis he just kissed Padmé out of the blue, like what was the reason?

Anyways, stan Sabé and Padmé<3

This felt like… a good filler episode of The Clone Wars.

Padmé and Sabé, my beloveds…

So boring and slow. The storyline with Sabe in Tatooine was all of a chapter--why in the world, then, was that such a huge part of the bookjacket's summary?!

Something I didn’t expect: after reading this novel I actually wanted to rewatch episode 1-3. And I had sworn to myself: I’ve seen them once and that was enough. I see this as a huge Star Wars fan!!
But this novel gave a fresh perspective on Amidala, which I despised as a character in the movies. Suddenly she is a smart politician and awesome being, deeply rooted in a powerful network of women. Anyhow: gender is a category in which this novel seems not to be caught in.
Even though the book is sometimes a bit slow, which I liked because it left room for storytelling and character building, the plot is developing around it’s two main characters Padmé and Sabé. And it was great to read a science fiction book which is not plot but character driven.

A very, very good book that just kind of, like, ends? It's going and it's going so well and you are so interested, and then it's over. Not in a "man it was so good I wish there was more" way (though that is applicable) but in a "what the fuck it's over there was no climax" kind of way.
