I read some of the series and watched some of the original anime back in middle school and high school and they’ve always been in my memory for having such an incredible story. I’ve been wanting to read Tohru’s story again and it’s still feels just as it was years ago.

Vol. 1 - Tohru Honda is a high school girl who recently lost her mother in a car accident and has been living in a tent in a forest. She has an always cheery personality and always looks at the bright side of everything despite having a tough life. She discovers that she’s living near the home of Yuki Sohma

It was a nice read but I'm getting overwhelmed with all of the characters and don't know if I will actively continue with the series... Maybe if I'm in B23 and got nothing better, I will pick the next one up but rn there is just so much more on my tbr. 🥲😅

It took me over a month and a half to read but I also had a lot going on irl. I think I will probably try vol 2 and see if it keeps me more interested. I also kept getting confused between the boys.

I came back to reread this over a decade later, since this sparked my love of manga and all things Japan that I have today. But it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered?! Maybe my tastes have changed but not sure I'll continue to read through the series. It's definitely cute and I love the characters and the idea for the story but I think it was harder to follow compared to other manga series I've read since and that could be why? It just didn't hold my attention like I wanted!
