Hands down one of the best books I have ever read, across all genres. If you love IT, Stand By me and others, you'll love this.

A nostalgic slice of small-town horror that instantly gave me It vibes. Simmons blends coming-of-age friendships, creeping dread, and supernatural menace into something both chilling and strangely comforting. The mix of childhood adventure with dark, lingering terror really hit the spot — classic Simmons atmosphere.

This was a looooooooong book that I think could have been cut into 1/3 its original length. The author seemed more interested in writing little vignettes of his childhood than the "horror" story that was the actual tale. It wasn't poorly written, but it was as if there were two completely different stories competing for page space and toward the end, I started skipping the boyhood tales to get the book over with; it just dragged on that long. I was also annoyed by the not-so-subtle attempt at the very end by the author to insinuate that he was one of the characters, this was his story, and it was non-fiction. Too late for that, my friend.

All in all, not a horrible book but I'd never recommend it to anyone else.

I first read this book in the early 90s and thought that it was a supremely good horror novel. Something reminded me of it recently, and I decided to read it again. It really stands the test of time. One of the most exciting endings of its genre that has ever been written.

I COULDN'T PUT THIS BOOK DOWN

I'm a self-described weenie when it comes to scary movies, but I LOVE a good scary book. The book was amazing, and I think if it were a movie, I could only watch it at 10am on a Saturday with all the lights on, and already knowing all the things that happen.
