This was such a fun book!! It was lighthearted, and the characters were so cute and loveable. I haven't read the boxcar children, but from what I know if that series (orphans getting into shinanigans) this is basically the modern boxcar children and it's delightful!

This does not make the list for best adventure to recommend to kids. While it is popular, and will continue to sell easily, there’s not a lot of depth to it. It is the perfect story if you just want an adventure. I have seen other adventure stories do it better though. Serafina, the boxcar children, Lemony Snicket...

Not my cup of tea. Listened on CD and didn't like the way the reader emoted... as if everything was exciting.

Eh. Read for 5th grade book club. Every once in a while, we pick something with very little for the grown-ups; this was one of those times. But, the girls thoroughly enjoyed it!
Fun story for adults and kids. It's hard to find a book that pleases a 10 year old, 8 year old and 6year old. We listened to this audiobook during a road trip.
