AJ fully immersed himself in his projects and that makes for great reads. This was really entertaining and informative. Loved it.
Really engaging book. Utterly hilarious reading AJ's experience trying to take the bible literally but also with some really moving takeaways about being a 'sacred' and thankful person and insight into religious fundamentalism.

As a Christian, I love how the author and narrator is open to learning and exploring the Bible. It is lighthearted and I love how he delivered his journey
This book helped me see The Bible in a different light and helped me understand religious people more. As he calls himself in the book I too am now a “reverent agnostic”.
This was entertaining but maybe a little longer than it needed to be. By the end I was pretty much ready for it to be over, but then it seemed like the author was too? The New Testament part was so thin that he shouldn't have even pretended to bother... At the beginning of that section, he said he really couldn't commit because of his Jewish heritage/feeling like he was betraying his ancestors. That's all fair, but since this book is all about over-the-top commitment, pretending to go on with the exercise after that declaration did the entire book a disservice. Anyway. The end felt like it was a long time coming, and then was incredibly abrupt.

Not totally in accord with his conclusions, but I admire his humility and openness to what he discovers. I want to read more of his books :) And daydream of doing some crazy stunt so I can profit from it later.
Once again A.J. Jacobs jumps in head first for his readers.
His book ideas are such simple concepts, but required an absurd amount of dedication... ABSURD
Thank you for being a real crazy person for our entertainment.

A fascinating glimpse at religion and the Bible through one writer's experiment to follow the Bible as literally as possible. As a person of faith, I found much to digest. An engaging, thoughtful read.
Interesting concept. Enjoyed the attempt to implement historically-relevant laws in contemporary society. For me, too much of the book was suffused with dealing with Jacobs' self-awareness and neuroses. Had there been more emphasis on the exploration of antique Judaica than the level of dirtiness of his white clothes, I probably would have enjoyed it more.
