Kept me guessing until the end. Too bad about the ending though; guess I enjoy the happily ever after endings.
I loved this book! When I first read the description, I was hesitant because I usually read books in the crime/mystery/thriller categories (but I'm trying to expand my reading!). Then, I started hearing more people talk about this book, and other people saying that this isn't the type of book they would normally go for and they loved it, so I decided to give it a try. At first, I was a little skeptical, I just wasn't getting into the idea of an entire book taking place with two people on a deserted island, but all of a sudden I was 150 pages in and I couldn't put the book down! I also really enjoyed the writing. Although in the third person (I usually prefer first), I really enjoyed Huckelbridge's writing and would definitely pick up future novels he writes.
Great way to start the new year - this book is fantastic. Heartbreaking but a beautiful story.
This was quiet and beautiful. I really enjoyed it on audio. I did take a half star off for the heavy foreshadowing - being able to see things coming from a mile away really dulled the emotional impact.
I don't know what it is about this book but I finished it almost 2 weeks ago and I'm still thinking about it. First, that cover is just gorgeous isn't it? And I love the title which is so reminiscent of the story. I want to keep this review very simple because I went into this story knowing only that it was a unique castaway story and for me that made for perfect reading. What's most important to know is this...there's a plane crash, two survivors, and a tiny island in the middle of nowhere because the pilot flew off course. The survivors are opposites in every sense and yet they must find a way to come together to not only survive physically but emotionally as well.
It's not often that I re-read sentences because the words seem to have been put together to create a magic spell on the reader but I did many, many times while reading Dane Huckelbridge's captivating prose. It was storytelling at it's finest and I literally couldn't put this book down. There's a little bit of everything in this story: drama, heartbreak, suspense, action, humor, sadness, and so much love and resilience. Oh...and there's a twist that left me stunned! Seriously, I know my jaw dropped. I love it when an author manages to surprise me like that. If you're looking for a something different I highly recommend giving this a try....just make sure to have tissues handy.

Enjoyed the story and relationships. Heart wrenching ending was so abruptly painful
Loved it, could have done without some of the language, but then the characters wouldn’t have been the same.
Needs to be made into a movie!!

This was such a ride. I've been meaning to read this book for years and now, I finally gave. It's as amazing as I thought it would be. The idea of two castaways, who have previously now known each other, having to make a life together is what drew me in. The little parts in between were so well done. And bringing it back to the present was as well. I knew I cared deeply for the characters, but I wasn't aware of HOW much until the end, but that would be a spoiler.
Very highly recommended read.

This was such an incredible book! The writing was beautiful and I loved how the narration was third person and how the story was set up and how it unfolded. Such magical beauty and I wished it had never ended! Definitely worth the hype! Perfect book to start 2018!
What a powerful book. The author takes one of the worst things that could happen to someone and creates magic. I definitely don’t suggest this book if you’re planning on flying anywhere :) But, in all seriousness I was left speechless while reading this story. You will definitely need a tissue while reading as the story is so incredibly moving that you will be brought to tears by the tenacity and power of the two main characters.
