I enjoyed this a lot when I read it but it didn't stick with me. The story didn't grab me and the art style didn't stand out. Overall this was just ok. I liked it enough to continue on with the series.
Excellent graphic novel.
really enjoyed the character development.
Looking forward to learning more about Black Widow.

4.5 stars, rounded up because it would just feel wrong to mark this as 4 stars.
This was everything that I wanted it to be and more. I got Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff kicking some serious ass. I got a perfect mix of plot and action. I got dangerous levels of attachment to characters within a few panels of their being introduced. I even got a Hawkeye cameo and a cat. Cats makes any book better.
I definitely need to read more of this series ASAP.

What you carry with you, it weights you down, down, down.
I originally got invested in Black Widow because of the MCU, but I figured it was time to venture into the comics, and I'm pretty sure this was an amazing place to start.
Natasha is honestly one of my favorite Marvel heroines (or anti-heroines? I feel like she kind of veers in between the two categories in a lovely manner); I love her unique set of morals, her desire for atonement, how she's unwilling to form attachments but yet still has some of the most interesting relationships with other characters. I especially loved her conversations with Maria Hill, Tori Raven, and of course, Liho. Edmondson does a great job of capturing what makes Natasha Natasha, and Noto's art compliments his writing incredibly well.
This is one of those books where I actually love the art as much as I loved the storyline, if not more, because everything is so pretty: the shading, the color choices, the varying crispness...it's just different, and it suits Black Widow perfectly. There's a definite difference highlighted between who Natasha is as Natasha Romanoff, and who she is as Black Widow based on the art design, but both tie together into who she is as a whole beautifully. I also felt like the characters themselves were shown so clearly based on their facial expressions, which is always a good feeling in a comic: this is a medium where things can be shown, not told, and Noto does a fantastic job of showing just who each of these characters is for the audience. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the second volume, and seeing what happens next.

I haven't read too many Marvel comics, but I have enjoyed the ones I've read.
I liked the style of the art work and enjoyed the story lines.

I wanted to read this collection because I heard very good things about the artwork, and it lived up to the hype. The artwork is astonishing, however, the story wasn't, at least not in my opinion.
This was my very first Black Widow comic, and I'm glad it was, but Natasha was just a little too broody for me. Now I know she has a decently complicated past and probably has reasons to be all broody (the only things I know about her are from the MCU), but if this was my very first introduction to the character I probably would've felt quite lost and confused and therefore wouldn't be able to enjoy the story.
Side note: this story kind of reminds me of Iron Man 2 and 3.
