Book 1 left me so unwell I went and read the entire Legends of Thezmarr books and novellas (I hadn't read them before) and then, armed with that amazing story, I re-read Iron & Embers and immediately, at 12:36 am, started Thorns & Fire. While I am doing better at the end of this than I&E, I am still reeling from the depth and complexity of the story. I saw the ending barreling towards me, but even then, I wasn't prepared for it. I adore this world, this couple, their found family, the complexity of their world, and even the stupid politics. Book 3 cannot come fast enough. Any complaints or issues are minimal because the story just draws you in completely, and I am surprised when I'm interrupted that I am in a modern house wearing shorts and not a dress with a dagger and potions in my pocket. And dang it, where is my Warsword?

I received a copy of this ARC from the author and am honored to share this completely honest review!

Thorns & Fire opens with Torj and Wilder in the middle of a skirmish with rebels while Wilder is giving Torj relationship advice, I love it.

Wren is back in a dark place, she's being too hard on herself, but luckily like Torj has Wilder to talk to, she has Thea to give her some sound advice and words of wisdom.

The adventure for Wren begins as it continues for Torj. It's an exciting mix of action, banter, and tension! 😮‍💨

The tension, the battle of wits! It is amazing! Honestly, this book has the THICKEST tension I have ever read.

It also has the BEST use of the one tent trope ever. Period.

Like, pretty much all of Helen's books, the ending had me crying and screaming!!! The way the next book is set up, the promise of what is to come, I just know Silver & Smoke is going to be EPIC and I am so ready!

I'm sorry for excessive use of exclamation points and capitalization, this book is just so good! How is every book Helen writes even better than the last?!?

Reading this book, and all of Helen's books, the world disappears around me and I am transported to Thezmarr. The word building, the characters, the alchemy, the magic, the physical combat, the ROMANCE (hello again, capital letters), every little detail is incredibly well thought out, piecing together to create the best romantic fantasy series that I have ever read! Yeah, I said it and I will keep saying it!!

♾️🌟 Infinity stars!!!
