RAPID REVIEW: Scheuerer really is out here trying to ruin my sanity with every one of these books. I can't even comprehend what life will be like when this series is over in November with Silver and Smoke. Like, my sanity, cannot. This one was even better, in my opinion, than Iron & Embers, because we got more of the mid-realms politics and the future that Wren and Torj will play in that, while also accepting their bond with a whole new fervor. That ending though - I need a formal apology in the third book for it.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

RECOMMEND: 100%. No hesitation. Lovers of the Thezmarr series continue to be gifted with the wonder that is Wren and Torj, while also getting bits of the secondary cast that really make some moments that much more meaningful and fun.

I don’t think there will ever be a point in my life where I don’t long to visit the mid-realms. Truly, for such a place to even exist where I could share a pint with Kipp. Spend a day at Drevenor learning alchemy with Wren. To know the fierce camaraderie of a Warsword cadre. There are so many reasons to love this world that Scheuerer has crafted over the years, but nothing makes me feel such immense joy and utter devastation as the love story of Wren and Torj.

If I thought that Iron & Embers broke me, I was dead. freaking. WRONG. The ending of this one, my GOD. My heart was on the floor even though I saw the shadow of what was to come lurking through the lines of the ending chapters. So, as always, brace yourself for the ride. I promise - the pain is worth it in the end.

The pace of this one could equate to Wren's storm magic - tumultuous, wild, and filled with a ton of discovery (both self-reflection and outer experience). For the characters, for the mastery of alchemy, for the state and future of the mid-realms. It's all woven throughout the adventure, tied with a golden string of fated-mates and I can't even explain how beautiful that is.

Altogether, nothing hits quite like the love I have for this series. I'll champion this with as much fervor as Thea did to become a Warsword!

As expected with Helen Scheuerer, book 2 explores the main characters relationship with betrayal, understanding, revelations, twists, secrets and love (and a lot of spicy moments)

Book 1 was more for foundations of the plot, I hope book 3 will resume brilliantly the story.

As always, love the side characters, the relationship between sisters and friends, the emotional connection.

Idk this was just not it for me. I loved the first one, rated it 5 stars, but this one fell flat. Maybe it is really just setting stuff up for the third book but tbh I couldn’t really tell you what happened in this one. Other than Wren and Torj giving each other heated looks and breathing heavily at each other. Like genuinely felt like 70% of the book was them hooking up. Very quickly got to the point where the spicy scenes were just annoying. And where did Torj’s personality go?

Another edge of your seat, heart wrenching installment in the Thezmarr series. CANNOT wait for the next one.
