LOVED this!! This book was truly hard to put down!! I mean, true there are a lot of characters to keep up with, but I loved it all!! The film did no justice, and I was a fan of it! King's books used to be a hit or miss for me when I started reading, but damn, I think I am going to have read them all now!!

When I was reading this, I couldn't help thinking how much of a fanfiction this book is. But then, aren't all vampire books after Vampyr really just fanfictions turned legit fics?

This book was a fairly enjoyable homage to Dracula, with King's signature host of smalltown characters, (plus his sympathy for childhood terror, and casual female objectification).

A fantastic and terrifying novel in equal measure. Largely correcting everything that Bram Stoker's Dracula may have missed, this story features a master vampire who is present, menacing and actually hurts the protagonists instead of just presenting himself as a big monster who is easily defeated (and using all of his powers without skimping). Without shying away from taking clear inspiration from this horror classic, the story takes you into how a community deals with such an issue (whether actively, by letting go or simply supporting the monster) and not just how the protagonists might deal with it. All in all, an intriguing, chilling and well-rounded novel.

My first Stephen King novel, and wow. It was a great one. I have been hesitant to read his novels, but after this one I am ready to read another! The story line was great, and there was a good amount of detail. One scene towards the end made my jaw literally drop. I am still unwell from it, lol.

- great characters
- poor conclusions to literally every single thing that happens.
- was never truly scared or worried
- wish it was shorter
