I loved this book! I somehow missed this one my first time reading through the series, but it was just as good as the other books even with going back!! It did answer some questions I have had throughout the other books though. So good!!

I very much enjoyed this second installment in the lengthy paranormal cozy mystery series known as the Mitzy Moon Mysteries. In this volume, the endearing and intriguing characters are further developed, and we learn mire of the small lakeside town where the stories occur. Fans of simple non-graphic plots with a hint of blossoming romance and a bit of the supernatural will be pleased with this easy entertainment. I look forward to beginning book three.

Mitzy is just settling in to her new home town. And with the realization that she is seeing her grandmother's ghost. She's also dealing with the fact that her grandmother has no boundaries; or, at least, is giving Mitzy no boundaries. The woman (ghost woman?) can literally read Mitzy's thoughts. Which is not great at the best of times and is especially hard because Mitzy is dealing with a murder that hits close to home. She is walking Pye (her cat) on the beach when they come across a dead body. The man is not only Odell's (the man who runs the local diner) brother but he also had a daughter. Sort of like Mitzy being left orphaned.
Odell asks Mitzy to look into the problem so she jumps into the fray. Like, she is put in some pretty severe danger in this book. Your general Mary Sue detective who doesn't turn over evidence to the police.
The mystery is a little weak in this book though I did really enjoy the character development in this book as well as seeing Mitzy and her father's relationship growing. Mitzy seems to be gaining a LOT of powers. Like, a lot. I don't mind someone being powerful but she just keeps adding to her skill set and it's getting to be a lot. Will try the next book in the series but I'm hoping it levels out soon.

I am loving this series. If you read my review of the first book, you know it took me a moment to warm up to Mitzy. I’m so happy that I gave her a chance! She is still snarky and a bit guarded but that is to be expected with her background. What this book has confirmed for me is that Mitzy cares very deeply for those she loves. I am, now, definitely a fan of Mitzy Moon! I love seeing her relationships grow. When she was thinking of Pyewacket and her true feelings, I can’t say how my heart soared. I am hoping soon my heart will soar with a relationship happening between Mitzy and Sheriff Harper. I must say in my desire to rush this relationship, I have appreciated the slower pace. It fits Mitzy more and is what separates him from a one night stand. I really enjoyed seeing Silas more in this book. He is such a mysterious character! Speaking of mysteries...this one was intriguing. It took a turn that surprised me and the ending wasn’t a scenario that I had ran through my mind. I am truly looking forward to the next book in this series.

While this is a book 2, it can be read as a stand alone, as all of the characters and information we learned in book one is revisited.
We catch up with Mizty as she entangles herself in yet another convoluted case. I'm so so thankful that this series isn't running with the typical insta-love that runs rampant in cozy mysteries. The banter between the characters is great, and the small town friendly yet nosy behavior is perfection.
But again, much like book one, the excessive use of adverbs and adjectives leave me questioning if it's intentional first person character trait or not. Also, there were many aspects that just didn't feel believable so they pulled me out of the story.
