I really have to stop thinking that Cain's books will get worse as the series gets on. I've been burned before, but she delivers every time. The ending of this one actually choked me up a little.

Yet another fantastic installment of the Gretchen Lowell series! Chelsea Cain never ceases to amaze me with her ability to keep me engaged and these characters interesting! I can't seem to get enough of Archie, Susan, Henry and the rest of the gang! I am anxiously awaiting the 7th in the series!

It's always fun hanging out with Archie and Susan. Gretchen is a hoot and was funnier in this installment than previous ones. I found myself not liking Leo so much and I'm up in the air over how I feel about this character for future installments. I haven't decided what relationship I'm rooting for either. Cain is always a fast, fun read.

Maybe 3.5 stars. Good, but not as good as Kill You Twice, which I thought was the best of the Gretchen Lowell series after Heartsick. I feel bad saying this after all he's been through, but Archie's demons are starting to wear on me. I'm not sure how much longer we can draw out the Archie-Susan UST before I start rooting for her to just run the other way as fast as she can.

I’m glad this final book picked up again and set the series back on course. I don’t buy Gretchen as a computer hacker, the Rachel thing was obvious, Susan is still the most annoying character ever, and I think Gretch is getting way too soft on Archie. Their connection is more plot device than organic now.

Sadly, this series got a little worse with each entry until by this book, #6, there's too much gratuitous sex and Gretchen the serial killer has somehow become practically a super genius with superhuman strength. Still readable, but I don't think I'll read another in the series.

Excellent writing, plot, & characters, Cain's work is excellent & I hope to read more in the future, perhaps when she explores other themes. And love the Portland scenes. reached my limit with the Archie & Gretchen drama. That's why three stars.
