Review:
Is the case in this book unrealistic? Absolutely. Do I care? No, not really.
I'm a big fan of Cole McCade's prose and character development, and that's what I'm here for. Excited to see how it develops over 29 spisodes!

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5: Better than great, an undeniably enjoyable read, but not quite life-changing. Doesn’t feel like it’s glaringly missing anything, but there is no je ne sais quoi that would make it hauntingly good.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️ 2: A little tingle (Erotic but not explicit)
Perspective: third
Tense: past
POV: multiple/omniscient

I don't like the writing, it's stilted, full of weird metaphors und purple prose. In the first couple pages the word knot was used too much without it being a book about sailing, shibari or an omegaverse.
I don't like the characters, they're walking clichées, with the racial und gay twist. Apart from that, they are like any other murder mystery detective. One of them is supposed to be higher ranked than the other, but I don't buy it.
From what I've seen so far, the police work is quite shoddy and not very well researched. Why the hell are they trampling all over the crime scene?
The plot: way too predictable. I just know someone is trying to build themselves a perfect body.
This book just confirmes that I'm not a murder mystery reader, mostly.

I like it well enough. The biggest problem I have it's that I had to suspend my desbilief way more than I would like. I love cop shows, but I think I can only overlook some OTT decisions and actions on TV, not in a book.
I mean, how can you overpower, kill, cut off limbs of a person twice your size, in public places in less than 20 minutes??
Yeah if you can overlook this kinda thing, go for it. It is a nice and entertaining book.

This is a perfectly fine story. Enjoyable. It didn't feel like there was any romantic tension between the two characters, which was fine by me. Just a murder mystery.
Loved this! It’s like the best parts of Criminal Minds and Bones, but queer and glorious, dark without being despairing
