This is a book just for the smut. Which isn’t bad, but that’s what it is. Plot is super thin, and the writing is really bad. The author uses the same phrases and word choices over and over again which I found to be really annoying.

Not a fan of this book, not sure how I finished it. The orc had a good personality but sadly he and all of the other characters lacked dimension. The main character elf annoyed me. Story ended in a way that left me spiteful

This was an overall lower stakes romance
(of course till stuff hit the fan as it tends to do around two-thirds of the way through most romantasy books)
between two heirs to their respective kingdoms – one orc & the other elven – as they marry as a sign of good faith in signing a treaty between their  kingdoms. The way their love story unfolded was beautiful to read and you best bet I unexpectedly cried my eyes out on a couple of occasions over them 🥲

Mild spoilers, separated by line break

I enjoyed the book. I found the smut the primary point of the book but well balanced with the world building. I was what I expected and I enjoyed it.

Not fond of the unnecessary death of the horse though, im.hoping it ties into the second book

At first it seemed like there was going to be a satisfying amount of depth and maybe a slow-burn romance, but a couple hours into this is it's pretty clear that one party is bringing more enthusiasm/effort into the relationship than the other which is disappointing to read, frankly.

“Thank you for bringing me home.”

I discover this book on a list of M/M fantasy romances. And it felt like something that I would like: arranged marriages, political intrigue, it got everything that I like. And I liked it. Really liked it. It a well-structured story, with good and well-developed characters. However, I think it that the pacing was a little fast and certain events could be more spaces-out!

Nonetheless, its a good story that I recommend.
