Absolutely loved this book. It was so magical and like a breath of fresh air. It was extremely refreshing reading something so passionate and enchanting.

Tessa is adorable. This is my second or third favourite of the non-children's books by this author.

Beautifully written with beautiful characters, but became very confusing at times. Someone not well versed in the culture of the time period (like myself) might find some parts a bit hard to follow. Also the amount of miscommunication among the characters just to create a longer story oftentimes set my teeth on edge.

But the characters were a saving grace to the story, as well as the wonderful descriptions of scenery that abound through the pages.

well, wasn't that fuckin adorable

the only unpredictable thing that happened in this was that at one point an eccentric nobleman's normally docile pet bear has a fireworks-induced flashback rampage. and it's treated with the utmost sympathy for the poor, terrified bear.

this book is so unbelievably gentle. like it's so??? sweet?

audiobook narrator's accents were a little all over the place but her general tone sounded like she was telling a secret joke the entire time which was pretty delightful
