What did I just read? Anyhow I loved it regardless. Laughing crying emoji needs to be inserted.
This series was continuously recommended to me, and I didn't bother giving it a try until now. Let's just say, I really, really like it.
Turns out this wasn't for me really. The characters didn't grab me. I didn't like them that much. The time stopping sex powers is still a cool concept. Also, the possibility of other kinds of sex powers existing. I still might read the next volume if I get a chance to.
This was onsale at Magers and Quinn, and it was too nice a day not to go read by the lake for a little bit. This is hilarious and bizarre and I highly recommend it.
Sex Criminals written by Matt Fraction & art by Chip Zdarsky. Lets start by saying, no it is not about what you think it is. It is however very much about sex. This is such a great story about sexuality and about discovering and growing into your own sexuality. It talks a lot about the lack of good information for teenagers out there. It is also a love story, a comedy and about how to use your powers. Both the protagonists (John and Suzie) have had healthy active sex lives before finding each other and it is never once seen as a bad or a shameful thing in the story! The story talk about porn and masturbation as well. The art is really great, it is sexy without ever once tipping over into erotica. The story is soo funny and clever. I laughed out loud a lot while reading it, earing strange looks from my boyfriend. If you have not read it yet, what are you waiting for!
Uh....that was amazing! Best graphic novel I have read in a long time...maybe of all time.
I've been reading these issues as they come out, not as a trade, but I've loved the direction the series has taken. The letters in each issue are hilarious as well.
I thought it was going to go a little less silly and more psychadelic, but I'm enjoying the silliness. The first couple of issues depicting the sexual awakening of both characters were just brilliant and truly surprising. It's so nice to see truth and realism in the representations of sexuality.

I'm feeling really conflicted over this because I really enjoyed it but something was just missing for me...
Might re-read it so that I can gather my thoughts but for now, 3 stars!
