I liked Elliot a lot! Emma was getting more and more annoying!
Half of the book contained steamy scences! Don‘t get me wrong, it‘s not like I don’t enjoy Reading stuff like that! And it was a nice destraction, the story was sweet, but also lacking!

PS: I read the editor edition from darcan press (17.dec2019, pages: 238)and the cover Is so much better, than the one I found on goodreads! ;)

This was like the exact same as the first book in this series but this was written even worse and had so many typos and the characters were so annoying to me haha

Actually more like 3-1/2 stars. It held my interest but aspects of the story line grated on me, especially the FMC’s repeated refusals of his offers of marriage). If this book/series is your entry point to this author, don’t base your opinion on these. Her other books are much better with more depth to the characters and the stories themselves.
fast-paced

This was scarily similar to the first book in the series, “The Marquess and I.” It felt like that story was taken and some changes were made here and there. I mean, I liked “The Marquess and I,” so I didn’t mind it too much. Good on the author for capitalizing on her previously written work, I guess.

Far be it for a lady to desire, hatch, and execute a daring seduction of a notorious duke at a masquerade ball. But Miss Emmaline Fitzgerald, a wallflower with no decent prospect, was on such a path, and her quarry was her brother's best friend, Elliot Winthrop, the Duke of Hartford.

One moment of sin, stolen pleasure and irresistible passion, that was all it was supposed to be….

Little did Emma realized everything about her was imprinted in Elliot’s heart and mind, and her scandalous ruse was about to change and challenge everything she thought she knew about herself and the devilish duke.

Finding the courage for a second chance at love

Great story focused almost exclusively on the couple… Emma, getting over the emotional and physical wounds of the past and Elliot, brother’s best friend turned Duke.
I appreciated that there was no 11th hour random pivot or external scandal, and that each of the characters had their reasons and emotional journey but found their way to the HEA hoped for.
