As I mentioned in the last review, this series is very standalone; aside from Heather’s budding romance with Cooper, there’s really not much to keep track of from book to book.
This is another one in the series where I’m really not a fan of the murder. It seems plausible and believable like the previous book, but it’s not really the driving force of the story. There’s a lot more focus on Heather’s romance and who she will ultimately pick; Tad or Cooper.
Aside from my normal issues with love triangles, there’s another trope—one that I see in a lot of Meg’s books—that pops up. Heather waffles over a question Tad asks her, and everyone assumes that he’s going to propose, even though they been dating for a few months. Although Heather doesn’t admit that her first reaction, it is a little irritating. Just because someone’s tied down for a few months doesn’t mean that they should be married to their significant other also automatically. (Speaking of, I had a big problem with the massive pairing-up of EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER. Not everyone needs a romantic subplot!)
I do enjoy this book, but there’s really not much substance to it. There’s some character development, and a large part of the plot seems to wrap up character threads. As of now, it’s the final Heather Wells book, but you never know if book 4 is around the corner.

It was good, but all three books so far in the series kinda felt like it was the same one all over again. So I won't be reading the two remaining books, but that doesn't mean the first books weren't worth reading.
Finally. Though honestly, the big romantic revelation wasn't as satisfying as it should have been, imo.
Least favorite book of the Heather Wells series. Bored most of it. Had to read cause I was reading the series. Ending kinda slightly saved it.

I just love this series (Heather Wells Mysteries) by Meg Cabot. This is book #3. The other two were "Size 12 is not fat" and "Size 14 is not fat either".

Heather has a new boyfriend, her dad is moving out and she's about to pass her first college course, the only downside is her boss just got murdered. It's up to Heather to figure out who is behind his death when the police start looking in the wrong direction.
The Song lyrics at start of each chapter make me cringe they are so bad, Heather supposedly wanted to be able to write her own songs back when she was a pop star, i think i now know why she wasn't allowed.
The story is repetitive in parts and actually a bit offensive in others "That's it," I say encouragingly, speaking to her in the same gentle but firm tone i use with the anorexics we get periodically down in the office, and whom i have to urge to eat the special, highly calorific muffins the nutritionists send over to fatten them up enough for what we're saying to make some sense to their vitamin deprived little brains. Considering Heather likes to bring up her size a lot she doesn't seem to have much sympathy for anyone else who has issues with their weight.
The ending was rushed and out of nowhere, considering it has been a slow burn through the first 2 books now Cooper wants to suddenly marry Heather towards the end of book 3. The mystery element was a bit lame especially the motive for murder..... Wedding China.... seriously!
Overall its a nice easy read but I definitely didn't enjoy this one as much as books 1 and 2 and am probably a bit put off of reading any more in the series which is a shame.

**May contain Spoliers**
Not as good as the previous two, in this book Heathers new boss is found shot in his office, the students have formed an union and are demanding better employment conditions, Heather has a new boyfriend who is vegan and doesn't own a tv, the new vicar has a habit of touching members of the choir in an inappropriate manner, Heathers dad is back in her life and eventually gets back into the music industry and Heathers ex is about to be a father.
For the amount of things that are going on the book is very short and what unfortunately happens is that the mystery is wrapped up super fast, it takes about 2 - 3 pages to conclude which makes it feel rushed. A lot of loose ends are concluded in the book and previous characters find love and happiness, including Heather. This is something I really appreciated the author doing, she created a love interest since book one and has now concluded it so that particular vine is closed; I hate drawn-out love lives.
All in all, the book was an okay and a very quick read but it wasn’t anywhere near as good as the previous two…and I for one hope this is the last entry in a trilogy just for the body count in Death Dorm alone.
One thing to add, the whole "I can't run because my uterus might fall out"-thing was annoying and she mentions it after the "morning jog" she (atempted) to go on, yes we get it har-de-har. Enough already.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I was happy to learn that there will be two more Heather Wells mysteries coming out.
