The book almost lost me in the beginning...seemed like a classic switched at birth story. I'm so glad I kept reading. I enjoyed it so much and at the end I felt like I knew the two girls so well. A wonderful read. I recommend it.

I liked this book though I did know where it was leading from very early on.

The story is told in the alternating chapters and voices of Ruth and Dana. Each giving through their own words what was happening in their lives and how they understood it.

For me, I found myself identifying with Ruth the most. The relationship she had with her beloved father was very much the same as the one I had with mine. I relived out walks, our talks and how it didnt matter where he went as long as I could go with him.

While I dont understand the reasons of why the families choose to do things the way they did, it was interesting to try to understand. Short chapters made it very easy to read just one more.

Recommended for anyone who likes a family story that will touch you and make you laugh at the same time.

I would give this 3 1/2 stars. It started out very slowly for me. The first 100 pages, although well written, dragged. I had also basically figured out the plot twist pretty early into the story- although there were several interesting twists that I hadn't expected. By the last half of the novel, I couldn't put it down.

This is part of my 'Read All These Books You've Bought' mission. I bought this book years ago and it has been sitting on my bookshelf. I am so pleased that I started my mission with this book. The style reminded me of Barbara Kingsolver's Prodigal Summer. The chapters alternate between two perspectives. You read along, desperate for these two to put together the pieces of their life.

The plot twist half way through ruined an ok book and any trust in the author to deliver a story. Implausable story (can I have some veg, I'm going to Woodstock, you should go there too) and some heavy handed nature-over-nurture business. And strawberries. At least it was a quick read.

I love family sagas so I might be a tad biased on this review but I loved this story and following Dana and as they grew up. I knew there was a plot twist somewhere, but I didn't see it coming which made me enjoy it even more. Of course some parts of it seemed unrealistic, but in the end I though this was a wonderful story with wonderful characters.

3.5 This one I probably would have enjoyed more had I read instead of listened as I didn't love one of the readers. Interesting storyline and character development. I do enjoy it when I don't see the end coming, though I wonder if I should have??

Even though I figured out the plot twist in the first two chapters, I thought this was a good book about families and their secrets.
