3.5 This one I probably would have enjoyed more had I read instead of listened as I didn't love one of the readers. Interesting storyline and character development. I do enjoy it when I don't see the end coming, though I wonder if I should have??

Even though I figured out the plot twist in the first two chapters, I thought this was a good book about families and their secrets.

After reading Labor Day I was expecting another great book from Maynard and was very disappointed. It was very easy to figure out how the daughters were connected and much of the story didn't really have anything to contribute towards the plot.

This book reminded me of a similar real-life story that occurred in Wisconsin. I heard about that story on This American Life and the whole premise is super intriguing. For people who say this is unrealistic, look it up. It happened in a very similar way, although without Maynard's twist, added likely for literary spiciness. I'm sure there are other occurrences too. It brings to mind nature vs. nurture which is always fascinating to think about.

After reading Labor Day I was very interested in reading other novels by Joyce Maynard. The Good Daughters did not disappoint!! Like Courtney, I guessed some of plot points before the characters did but overall it was a great and interesting read.

Kept this one from the library to finish and not sure it was worth it...but alas I did. It was ok, but not one I would really recommend.
