def my least favorite TJR book. the plot isn’t terribly interesting and i never really got attached to the characters like i have in all her other novels.

TJR's writing is so amazing, felt those 60s to 80s era while reading this with malibu beach and summer vibes. i was emotionally connected with characters, felt like i am one of the riva siblings, riva's are my cousins from now on for sure!

I had tears in my eyes finishing this. I can't remember the last time a story has so utterly transported me. Perhaps my favorite book of all time.

I love TJRs books but this one I felt was emotionally lacking. I liked all the main characters but there were too many random people thrown in to the party.

An interesting story about family dynamics but I found the ending unsatisfying - it felt like it needed a whole other book to tell what happens next. And I would read that book in a heartbeat.

So, recommended but didn't leave me a complete mess like Evelyn and Daisy did.

Sometimes you read for gritty reality, sometimes you read for pure escape. This one falls somewhere in between. There are several things about this book that stretch credulity, but there are also some genuinely moving moments. Nina is maybe a little too pure, the reunion scene at the end might be a little too much, and it's hard to even imagine there are any lawyers who wouldn't have been thrilled to go after one of the biggest stars on the planet for skipping out on child support. But the bond between the siblings is believable, and it's the best thing about this book. I said in my profile that my star ratings are purely about how much I enjoyed reading the book, and that means this is a five star book, or at least four and a half rounded up. It’s like slurping down a chocolate milkshake on a hot day.
