This was such a tense filled volume that introduces a whole bunch of colourful characters that had a variety of reasons to take the Chunin Exam. Yet it start out with such a bittersweet start with an end of one story and the begining of another. 
I found that the state that the first proctor's head way more shocking rather than in the animé. Yet I love how the animé presented Orochimaru better. Yet this did well in setting up the mystery of what he wanted more.

This volume was really great. I like the fact that they address Sakura's role in the last three volumes as just being this smart, pretty girl that everyone liked, but not really being as physical as other shinobi were in the series. Plus, when she finally does step up, it's not JUST for Sasuke. So far the tests have been really intense and I'm sure it's just going to get worse from there. I think out of the characters we've been introduced to, I find Hinata the most interesting.
