4.32 AVERAGE

adventurous challenging dark inspiring mysterious reflective
slow-paced

this was extremely long and the perspectives would shift whenever something interesting was starting to happen
i also feel like the part that's set in the future could have been more developed, as some elements felt really confusing and random (i really wanted to know more about the disease, for example)
besides that, the plot twists were pretty good and the way the author wove the stories together was very well done
adventurous tense medium-paced

God. That was fucking sad. Beautiful. Poetic. Touching. But sad sad.

Lots of climate commentary that is cold and hard and painful.

Really good characters. Interesting perspectives. Nice snippets of history. Cloud atlas style.

But ultimately people fighting the inevitable force of change. And losing. Man makes plans and the gods laugh.

What was the point of all that? This is no feel-good story. There's no deep meaning that is revealed at the end. It feels very contrived.

Took a bit because of the multiple characters, stories, and times, but this was phenomenal. The themes woven throughout and the way he ties the characters all together. Plus the sense of wonder when describing books, libraries, passed down stories, and how small we all are. This was marvelous and one of, if not the best book I've read this year.
